AFTER THE TEMPEST
There's a mist slowly setting over the land
Like soft muslin
The wind was howling
Dark clouds were rushing across the sky
Allowing only shafts of sunlight through
To kiss the fantastic array of flowers
As the bobbed their heads cheerfully
Quite unaware of the gale
That was on its way
A vivid kaleidoscope of color
As the shadow of the clouds above feel on the earth
I looked up at the sky and shivered in the chilly wind
Wishing I was with you
But that was not to be
So I stand and drink in the magnificence of nature
For it reminded me of you
And your quest for justice
And the promise of the calm
After the tempest

ETCHED IN MIND
Mist rises from the damp grass
Spring days lengthen into summer
The land changes
Nature at its most extravagant
A lovely stream meanders past
A scene of beauty and calm
Leaving the hectic world behind
Gentle rolling hills
Of green russet and ochre hues
Lone cypress trees fringe the skyline
With silvery olive groves
And fields of golden sunflowers
Stretching out under the wide blue- green sky
And unspoiled ambiance
Guarded by magnificent mountains
All bring memories long etched in my mind
Of a Knight in a suit of silver
With a heart of gold
Standing strong and brave and proud.
